Time To Get Moving

Ok, I'm sitting at the endocrinologist's office discussing Andrew's diet program and the doctor looks at me and says, "You're following this too, right?"  She knows that I'm pre-diabetic and looking out for my own best interest, but I honestly feel like I'm in a 100ft. deep trench and everything (other commitments, priorities, health conditions etc...) is piling on top of me.  Why do we as mother's always end up at the bottom?  Why can't we carve just a little hole out for ourselves?

Well, to help keep myself healthy and my kids, I went and purchased a Wii Fit kit.  Andrew absolutely LOVES it!  He's not into sports, so this works really well for him.  And the best thing - I DON'T NEED TO NAG HIM!

Soooo....... as the kids went to bed, I decided to hop on and give it a try. Back in the day, my favorite exercise at the gym was step aerobics.  Something about getting the routine just gave me a high.  Anyway, I'm really having a blast doing this until the next morning rolls around and my calves won't work!  OUCH!  Have I honestly let myself go this long that I can't even make it through a Wii game without getting sore???  Needless to say, I have a long road to travel.

My advice:  All mom's out there - Take some time for yourself.  Go for a walk, get a manicure, go shopping, heck, just sit in a quiet room staring at the wall (Believe me, I've been there!).  You deserve it!

You are important!

  3. It is so hard to do, but we absolutely must put ourselves first. Just like the 'oxygen mask' instructions on an airplane. Get yourself set up first so you can help someone else. Great advice!!!

I do have to ask, though, what does prediabetic mean?

  4. Hi Amy, The doctors have told me I'm prediabetic because I have higher morning glucose readings. They told me I have a higher chance of getting diabetes in the future.
